This is a great post about asking yourself “What are you not good at?” I’m a big believer in outsourcing what I’m not good at (I’ve got a great webinar consultant Jeremie Miller helping me with my upcoming Right-Brainers in Business Video Summit and my hubby is helping me with other tech stuff, I have a bookkeeper to handle Quickbooks, and I have a housecleaner who vacuums underneath the bed).
Last week, I mentioned Todd Henry’s Personal Idea Pad. Well, I got mine delivered yesterday and am excited to use it! And I’m excited that Todd will be one of my guest speakers at the video summit.
A fascinating article in The Economist about The Art of Management: Business has much to learn from the arts.
Have you grabbed your Right-Brain Entrepreneur Badge of Honor free poster yet? Be proud. You and your creative work matter!
Well today is the official pub date of my new book The Right-Brain Business Plan, even though Amazon has been shipping them out for the past couple of weeks (and the book has already been a #1 best seller in Amazon’s Small Business Plan’s category – woohoo!). So in honor of the official date, I’m excited to share a few, fun things with you to celebrate!
My fabulous designer and illustrator Kate Prentiss and I collaborated on a fun little gift for all of you! It’s a free, downloadable poster of the Right-Brain Entrepreneur Badge of Honor that’s in the intro of the book. It’s totally darling. Please print it out, hang it in your office, studio, or creative space and remember that you and your creative work matter!
For the next several week’s I’m doing a blog book tour where I’m being interviewed or doing guest posts on people’s blogs. You can check out the schedule here. I did a podcast with Kimberly Wilson, a video interview with Laura Hollick, a guest post on Susannah Conway’s blog and Luna Jaffe of the Wild Money blog gave a wonderful book review. There’s plenty more posts to come on the blog tour (and some give aways, too!) so stay tuned! And of course if you’re interested in hosting me, please let us know – you can send a message to info @ artizencoaching.com with the subject line “blog book tour.” Thanks!
Plus a sneak peek… the next collaborative project that Kate and I are working on is a super cool kit to accompany the book so you can make your own accordion-style Right-Brain Business Plan. It’s still in the design and production phases, but I can tell it’s gonna be pretty awesome and I can’t wait to share it with you when it’s ready.
And next week is the first ever Right-Brainers in Business Video Summit. I’ve had such a great time interviewing my amazing guest speakers (including the fabulous Danielle LaPorte shown above, who shared such practical advice about making your dreams real). I know you’ll learn a ton from all of these experts’ wisdom. Plus, you’ll be inspired by the folks who will do a show and tell of their own Right-Brain Business Plans. We did a test run today with Tori Deaux, Michelle Ward, and Violette Clark to work out some of the technical kinks since we’re doing some cutting edge stuff. I’m really looking forward to connecting with so many creative entrepreneurs from around the world during this event! I hope you’ll join us – it’s free!
Todd Henry of Accidental Creative has a cool visual tool called the Personal Idea Pad. It’s like a guided mind map to help you brainstorm. I just ordered mine and can’t wait to play with it!
When I Grow Up Coach Michelle Ward gave a workshop at the Etsy Success Symposium recently and you can watch it on video! Cool! You’ll also be able to watch Michelle do a Show and Tell Spotlight at the upcoming Right-Brainers in Business Video Summit where she’ll share her Right-Brain Business Plan and success story.
And here are two articles about using story telling: Using stories to build trust and credibility and using stories to overcome fear.
Acknowledge your accomplishments.
If you’re like me, sometimes your judging mind can get on your case about all the things you haven’t done yet. It can beat you up about your never-ending to-do list. Rather than let that negative self-talk sap your energy, find a way to acknowledge what you have completed.
At the end of each day, list out at least 3 things big or small that you got done. You are probably accomplishing more than you are giving yourself credit for.
Take one dose of Left-Brain Chill Pill as needed to quiet your judging mind.

Plus, we’ve added in live “Show and Tell Spotlights” from right-brain entrepreneurs. You’ll get to interact with Amy Egenberger, Kristina Ender, Michelle Ward, Violette Clark, and Tori Deaux (and of course Emmit)! They’ll share their own amazing Right-Brain Business Plans and success stories. I know you’ll be super inspired!

Gain a fresh perspective.
Use a random image to help you play with a new way of thinking about an issue, idea, or problem. Take a look at the picture and ask yourself what do you see? Is there a metaphor or lesson for you? What if you looked at the idea or issue from the perspective of the subject in the photo? What’s possible from this perspective? What ideas does that spark for your business or life?
Take one dose of Right-Brain Booster as needed to enhance your creative intuition.
This week we’re highlighting a couple of the featured entrepreneurs in my new book The Right-Brain Business Plan. Above is the fabulous leather cuff bracelet created by Bevla Reeves of Hair Conspiracy. You can see her original spotlight here.
And above is the super cool paper plate mobile made by Lauren Brownstein of PITCH Consulting. You can read her original spotlight here.
