This is such a FUN time of year for me! Clearly it has a little to do with the festivities of the season, but for me, it has so much more to do with looking ahead to the coming year with sheer joy!
While I happen to love looking forward, I realize that not everyone else does. In fact, so many people dread this time of year and end up being super stressed that it makes me sad. So here are some tips to help you sail through the season and be excited about jumping into the new year.
Release. Now is the perfect time to take stock of what you’ve accomplished in 2014 and to release the things that are not serving you anymore. There is no value in carrying all that unproductive baggage into the new year. Learn from it, then leave it in the past where it belongs.
Exercise. While I am not exactly the reigning Queen of Fitness, I sure notice a difference in my outlook after I’ve gone out for a walk. I’m refreshed, happy and ready to tackle whatever’s on my plate. Added bonus: I tend to eat better when I’m exercising, and when I eat better, I feel better overall.
Let it go. You know things are going to happen that might not be optimal for your personal happiness this time of year. Whether it’s a relative pushing your buttons or a sour puss at the coffee shoppe, do your best to put on your teflon armor and go out and be merry! Make the conscious choice to let it go. You’ll be happier and you’ll attract more of the good stuff and you never know who you’re going to meet!
Anticipate. Isn’t it fun to look ahead and anticipate the juiciness that lies in the future? Take advantage of that energy and make yourself a vision board for 2015. In fact, why not make a party out of it and do vision boards with your family or your friends? Share the joy of anticipating what the future holds and set yourself up to receive all that juiciness.
Xperiment. Yes, that’s how I spelled it! Why not intentionally add some fun to the moment? Make a point of including some creative, innovative time into your schedule. There’s always stimulation in experimentation whether it’s with food, decorations or gift items. So go for it and explore something new.
Incorporate some of these tips and you’ll feel better. Incorporate them all and you’ll relax your way into 2015!
